Cristiano Ronaldo was born in Santo Antonio, Portugal on February 5th 1985. He started playing football at the age of 8 in a youth club called Andorinha, for 2 years. After, he moved to C.D. Nacional youth team another 2 years. In 1997 he made a move to the Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, for one season. Cristiano Ronaldo caught the attention of the Manchester united manager Alex Ferguson, who has signed him for £12.24 million (€15 million) in 2003 at the age of 18. In 2004 he had won the first club honour, the FA cup. Ronaldo carried on his great form which led him to win the ballon d’or at the age of 23 while in Manchester united. He was also awarded European golden boot in 2008 and won the FIFA Puskas award for the goal of the year in 2009. In 2009 July Ronaldo signed to Real Madrid for £80 million (€94 million), becoming the most expensive footballer in history. Ronaldo didn’t start his first season great at real Madrid and he was often booed by home fans, but after few seasons later he became the player which the club wanted. He has been winning awards and broke certain records since then. Ronaldo is the first top European league player to reach 40 goals in a single season in 2 consecutive years. He’s the fastest real Madrid player that has reached 100 goals. He holds the record of most goals scored in a season for real Madrid. In 2013 he won the ballon d’or after m(€94 million) Messi winning the ballon d’or 4 times consecutively.
